Hair Accessories and the Connection To Tribal Culture...By Stone & Bone

Today I'm showcasing my new Opihi shell and Guardian of the Rain forest hand embroidered wooden hair forks, just in time for that summer heat. These new additions, were inspired by the lovely lush rain forest and the breath taking tropical reefs with their layers upon layers of LIMO or what you all know it as seaweed.

The greens captivate the heart, soothing and caressing like the waves of the ocean and the leaves in the tall ancient ohia trees, reaching out to call you to come close, enjoy in the simple pleasures of nature, and if you do, you'll never be the same.

In all tribal cultures, our hair, is the connection to our ancestors, it reminds us of our genealogy to the universe, and beyond. It's is the root that binds us connects us and guides us in knowing we are never alone. For what has come before is what has made us stronger, their wisdom and aloha wraps us in a quilt of light. Now it's our responsibility to pass that on to the next generations, for we are too the Kupuna. That is why adorning our hair is honoring our selves as well as our aumakua, it gives them pleasure to see the beauty that they have created in all of us.

So the next time you brush your hair, and adorn it, think about the very strand that connects you to the magic that is Life, your Kupuna, Your ancestors, YOU.

Peace
PKI
