Stone Forest Copper Wire Wrapped Necklace
Welcome back, and let me introduce you to one of my newest creations, I call her Stone Forest. I just loved the way the stones complimented each other, playing off of the many shapes, tones, and textures, and the one shell element. I choose to accentuate the shoulder and neck, by keeping the focal bead to the left, and with a more ornate copper weave. Although the shapes and copper weave seems random, they really aren't. If you'd like to know more about this lovely new addition, click my link above to see more detailed close ups.
Mahalo much for stopping in,

All Wrapped up ...2011 New Copper Wire & Patina Collection By Stone & Bone
All Wrapped Up, is a my new copper wire collection using different types of wire and patinas, to give more dimension and tones to my already intricately designed jewelry. Above we have a Stone & Bone custom wire wrapped original granite and wire cuff bracelet, with a bluish green patina, that sets the tone for our new collection. You can look forward to seeing more free form styled cuff bracelets, gypsy styled chandelier earrings, and my favorite of all time chunky stone and wire wrapped cocktail rings. Like all things I do in my studio, I believe in enjoying the process of allowing things to evolve into the unexpected, whatever the outcome may be is part of what makes my work original. Very seldom do I plan or sketch my work out. And in most cases, it never turns out the way I plan any how. So giving in to the creative flow, gives me the freedom to express myself with out limitation. Working with wire and natural elements, isn't always easy, but intuitively listening and feeling the materials, teaches me on a daily basis that when I think I know something about the art form I choose to work in, it shows me more aspects of myself and how there will always be more to experience. AS in LIFE SO in ART. The wire teaches me that life don't always bend the way I may want, but with the right understanding and allowance, there is movement, and stone teaches me that there's more to one's dimension than what meets the eye. So you see, I'M A WORK IN PROGRESS... and I'd never trade it for the world.

Natural Elements in the Spotlight....Earth Tones take center stage
Just a tease of what's to come for Stone & Bone, http://www.stoneandbone.etsy.com. All over the runways you'll see more earthy styled fashion, that crosses styles from really over the top chunky layers of coral, turquoise, pearls, and just about every bright colored hue out there this Spring into the Summer Season.
Paired with flowing light silks and soft cashmere all natural styled jewelry will be the go to style for 2011.
Although I love playing with bright colors, I've been drawn to the more forest inspired tones, from Spanish mosses to yellow okra, touches of burnt umber, raw Seana, and rust to dark espressos, all wrapped with bright copper, layered and coiled with the richer more moody aged patina coppers.
Here's a couple of new pieces from my Hapu Collection {Hapu meaning Fern in Hawaiian} The coiled copper wire represents the way the young ferns unfurl as they reach the sunshine in our old growth rainforest's, reaching heights up of 10-25 feet. These wild giants are the inspiration that lends magic to my work. {The universal symbol of the coil also represent the Piko or naval to Native Hawaiian People, and the wiggly zig zag line is the Aka or umbilical cord that connects us to Akua, Great Spirit, The Universe.
There's so much more on it's way...Follow us for surprises.

Turquoise Pearls and a Touch of Copper Wire Handmade Jewelry Collection
At Stone & Bone ethnic heritage boutique, we're well know for our love of all things raw, natural and most of all heavy metal. Located above, are just a few of our commissioned turquoise and copper wire wrapped dangle earrings and our Purple Pleasure copper cocktail ring with crystals. Our customers who ordered these lovelies, hand one thing in common, they wanted something a little UNCOMMON.
We love creating pieces with a persons individuality in mind. Not to say it's simple. Far from it. But, by getting to know our customers, {Which we pride our selves in doing.} we can really find out what they're really all about. By putting ourselves out there, we get to experience a kind of old way of doing business, more like the old mom and pop stores. Where service as well as quality was the foundation that matter the most. Even in our modern cyber world, we believe this is even more important. When competition is tough, the only way to be successful is by doing what we do best, and that means serving you.

True Blue Love Affair...Stone & Bone
We all have our most favorite of hues...at least for the moment. My short, but sweet love affair can last for a day, a minute or for a whole collection. Here's a couple of choice pieces that I just adored creating. Simple, eclectic, yet earthy and smooth. Yea, that's right smooth. I like when creating everything just flows, no figuring out what goes with what, why, or how. But smooth, like a placid pool of water, shimmering with light. Smooth, that's what I like about these layers of blues and browns, wrapped with metallic copper, smooth, easy wearing and easy on the eyes. {All rights reserved PKS 2010 (c)}http://www.stoneandbone.etsy.com
Eclectic Wire Wrapped Handmade Jewelry ...From Stone & Bone
Wire wrapped jewelry has taken the DIY {Do It Your Self} world by storm. In the last few of years more wire wrapped jewelry has been seen all over the net, as well as in most fashion magazines from Lucky to Allure, even in More. We've seen a few big name fashion designers putting their stamp on a lot of the same type of eclectic jewelry, as I like to call them, and getting big bucks for what artist are doing in their own home studios for a fraction of the cost. Or some like to say, the Red Carpet Price.
Here's my own personal handmade wire wrapped collection of natural stone cocktail rings and dangle earrings. I love playing up the natural stone elements and the raw metal patina, embellishing them with pearls, shells and semiprecious stone chips. I know you've probably heard this phrase used so many times before, especially in the arts and crafts world, and it's become a cliche, but it's true in my case. None of the work you see in my shop will ever be reproduces. Why? Very simple. I love doing what I do, and I give every last drop of creative juice in what I'm creating in the moment. That being said, I don't like trying to recreate a piece. Once it's done. It's done. That's it. Each piece to me is a work of art. Sounds funny to some. But I feel each piece is for a person, and that person is one of a kind, and deserves to have something that they know no one else will ever have a piece made like that one. That's what you pay for when you purchase from Stone & Bone {All jewelry in this collage are sold. All rights reserved PKS 20109(c)}

Black Lava Wire Wrapped Jewelry Collection Stone & Bone 2010 2nd Edition
My Black Lava hand wire wrapped jewelry collection has taken off like wildfire. Kimberlee Cariaga, the new owner of Burgado's Fine Woods in Down Town Hilo, {If you've been to Burgado's, than you know Kim, she's the very outspoken yet very informative beauty that ran the place for Vilma Burgado, for the longest time. Now that Vilma and her husband decided to finally retire, Kim decided to jump right in and save the store from being shut down. Which would mean we'd all loose an Island Heritage Treasure.}has been bitten by the Lava Bug.
Yea that's right, she's been so taken by the feel, the rustic yet sophisticatedness by this cool blue black stone, that she just can't help but stock her store with all things Black Lava. Kim told me yesterday that, "Every time I wear this ring and go grocery shopping, someone has to stop me and ask what's that on your finger." She says, "I just laugh to myself and tell them that I sell this Black Lava Cocktail ring and jewelry at my store, and that a local artist hand makes them. The next question they ask is where is the lava from...and than I say, it's safe, it's from Peru."
We get a kick thinking about the old legends and what people really hear out there in the world about Tutu Pele and taking home lava. We know our stories too. and NO, this is not from Hawaii, you're all safe to take some home. So please just buy and don't worry.

Black Lava Wire Wrapped Jewelry Collection Stone & Bone 2010
Introducing our new Black Lava Jewelry Collection, created for Burgado's Fine Woods, In Hilo, Hawaii. Here I'm show casing my latest commissioned jewelry set for Kimberly, the new owner of Burgado's, Hilo's only Fine Wood Gallery, featuring master wood artist, where all wood bowls are only hand turned.
Kimmy, is one of my dear friends and customers, and trust me when I say, she's very finicky about what she chooses to buy, sell, or wear. I was simply amazed when she told me that my first ever Black Lava Cocktail Ring grew on her. I was like really...She was so taken by this simple ring that she hasn't taken it off, and the amount of admires that has stopped her in the super market was just crazy. So as you can see, I was just ecstatic when she asked me to make her a matching pendent, bracelet and earrings to make a set. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So here they are, a few pieces of her personal collection and a one that will be for sale at her store.
If you live in Hilo, or just visiting, and would like to purchase Black Lava Jewelry, go see Kim, and tell her that Stone & Bone sent you. She's really great at sharing the history and knowledge of Hawaii and the beautiful gifts in her care.

The Magic of Wrapped Jewelry... Cuff Bracelets Cocktail Rings and Necklaces
Here's just a sample of what's to come. Simple and delicate, feminine and stylish, from Bohemian babe to Gypsy Lady, every one's going to want one. {This one's already taken and in the collection of one of my very dear sisters. Sorry.} Every cuff has it's own personality, just like the women and men who wear them. They kind of grow on you and when the natural energy merges it creates a very powerful healing bond, it's what natural elements tend to do. It's all part of the elemental make up and the types of stones used in each piece, giving off a kind of magnetic appeal to the admire, and then they just gotta have it. {I'd like to believe that when I create each bend, swirl, twist and wrap, I'm allowing my self to flow with the source of all creativity and all it's natural properties. Some will call it being in the ZONE, others call it serendipity, I call it magic.} This beauty was a collaboration between my Soul Sister and I, she had these vintage pearls, and gave them to me to use, and well here they are wrapped up tight in a new wearable purposeful art piece. That now she wears.
This is just one of my more simpler styles, they'll range from $50.00-$100.00 and my more heavier more ornate cuffs will range from $100.00-$300.00. I'm choosing to have a wide range to choose from in price as well as in style, so everyone who loves cuff bracelets will find their perfect match.
Commission Pieces: If you have stones or vintage pieces that you would like worked into a cuff and is interested in having one specially made, contact me for details via my

Rainforest Inspirations

This is just a sample of what's to come. Our Hapu Collection, is inspired by our Hawaiian Island's tropical rain forests, where magnificent giant Hapu Ferns grow to 8 feet tall, and some times taller. These majestic gentle giants, have huge fronds of jewel tone green leaves, that's coated with the softest of goldish brown down.
But, the inspiration of our rings as you can see, by the intricately woven spirals are the young unwrapped shoots, that are like coiled spirals, tucked in the centers of each stock of the Hapu Fern. When the fern fronds are ready to mature, they slowly reach for the sky and unravel gracefully.
Our wire wrapping displays the many stages of growth, as well allowing the rustic beauty of the coppers patina to takes it's own course. The natural stone elements of each piece also speaks for it's self, adding it's own personal appeal and story, and so each and every ring will truly be unique.
In this collection, Stone & Bone, honors our Forest Ancestors, for giving us Plant, Spirit, Medicine, and our Kupunas who have taught us well.
Mahalo, Puakea
