Many times, going to a bead store or open market, can be like a kid in a candy store, but with out all the calories and cavities, {Well all most, my pocket book can sometimes take a jerk.} I walk in, my eyes get that glazed over sheen, the oohs and aahs start coming, and before I know it, I'm hooked. Like a fat little fish at the end of the line, dangling, dangling, dangling, until I give in and surrender to the lure of the little shiny beads, wires and pearls. Oh, and trust me when I say, they see our kind coming, They know we got the itch, the kind you just gotta scratch, they can see we need our fix. How I can tell they know, they look at us, and slowly start to bring out the little trays from behind their shelves, you know the ones, the ones they keep hidden, until fish like us come in the doors. They just know, and they can hear the ching, ching, ching. And before we know it, our cute little muffin trays are plum full, and well at the point it's just to late, the damage is done.
We'll I'm probably over doing it a bit, but I doubt it. WE love what we do, and it shows. Being artist is breathing to us, whatever craft it may be, it matters, with out what we do this world we live in would just be gray, dull and simply boring. So accept the addiction, to whatever it is that you do, creating that is, and allow the juices to follow, who cares if heart palpitations come, just let them come. Enjoy the process, feel the happy high you get from mastering your craft, and allow others to share it with you.
Here's a few of my addictions....enjoy. {All rights reserved PKS 2010 (c)}

The New Metal Age, Jewelry for those with Discriminating Taste
The Metal Ages for us has just been revived. From Steampunk to, Metal Clay, to Wire Wrapped jewelry, the last few years have exploded with all types of new styles, materials, and dimensions of what metal can do. Artist today have pushed the envelope and challenged themselves to continue to dig deep and bend the boundaries of their skill, as well as the tools and materials that they use on a daily basis. Every where you turn today, from craft and bead magazines like Bead and Button, to Stinging, and even Threads, as well as all the Somerset Publications, {love each one}, Metal, wire and clay have taken center stage.
The allure to the shinny metal stuff, is addicting to say the least, and the craftsman as well as the public can't seem to get enough. What's amazing to me though, the similarities of this new trend, is not new at all. Ancient metalsmiths and craftsmen have been addicted to the shinny metal as well. Their patterns and symbols play them selves out on our modern day stage, but very replicative of empires and ages past. What amazes me, and every other artist out there, is the magnitude of their mastership. Even in today's day and age, we have yet to come close to their phenomenal quality and mastership.
My love affair with wire and metal, has pushed my boundaries as well, here's a few select pieces that I'd like to share with you. If you'd like to see more or contact me, feel free. All rights reserved PKS 2010(c)

Our Heritage of Aloha...Stone & Bone
Growing up on an island, in the middle of the Pacific, we realize that we're a very lucky diverse tribe of people. In that sense I mean, we all have a connection to family members who've come to these lovely islands known as Hawaii as immigrants to work on the sugar plantations. I for one can surely say that my ohana's heritage comes from many different directions from all over the world. {Portugal, Filipino Spain, England, North America, Hawaii etc.etc.etc.}
Due to the amazing merging of cultures that call Hawaii home, everything we do here is influenced by the many traditions, languages and art forms that have become know as the MELTING POT OF THE PACIFIC. Like our famous Pigeon language {Local style lingo of all types of words put together that is original to Hawaii}. The artisan handmade jewelry you see above has a Asian flavor mixed with our surfer girl style, mix and matching, and coming up with a style all our own. Easy going, yet very elegant, our style and fashion is original to who we are...A true mixture of Aloha. {All rights reserved PKS 2010(c)}http://www.stoneandbone.etsy.com

Tribal Lady In a Modern World Jewelry Collection
Oldies but Goodies, giving you a taste of how it all began. Here's my collection of Native American and Polynesian inspired earrings, and cocktail rings. Each with it's own persona, each with it's own type of woman in mind. Some like it bold, others like it dainty, some like it truly tribal, some like it with just a whisper.Either way, they all speak of beauty from the inside out. Want to see more follow me. I'll be bringing some of these back real soon.
